Porsche unveiled the facelifed Carrera earlier this month, but now it has facelifted another variant of the 911 family, the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S.

Like the Carrera and Carrera S, the Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S also gets power output upgrades to its engines, with the Carrera 4’s 3.6 liter boxer engine output increasing by 20hp up to 345 horsepower now, while the Carrera 4S’s 3.8 liter engine gets bumped up by 30 horses to 385 horsepower.

A 6-speed manual is standard, but replacing the Tiptronic S 6-speed auto is the new Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe or PDK double clutch gearbox, which features 7 gear ratios and two clutches for seamless power transfer between ratios.

The 4 in the car’s name stands for 4 wheel drive, and in this new facelift the system has been upgraded from a mechanical-based multiple-plate all-wheel drive clutch to a system derived from the 911 Turbo using an electronically controlled PTM (Porsche Traction Management) system. The rear axle also now has a standard mechanical locking LSD.

Visual modifications include a wider stance than the rear wheel drive Carrera and Carrera S: 1.73 inches wider to be exact. There is also a new reflector bar between the two rear lights, which pays homage to the air-cooled 911s of old.

The front headlamps now have optional dynamic bending lamps which turn in the direction the steering wheel and car is going. Both the front and rear lamps feature LED technology - brakelamps for the rear and daytime driving lights for the front.
