Ferrari 430 Modena
New 2005 Ferrari 430 Modena - Ferrari is planning a much more radical facelift of the 360 Modena, which is expected to be released late next year. Concern about dropping behind its rivals, which include the shortly to be released "baby" Lamborghini L140, as well as the lukewarm reception that the facelifted 575M has received since its launch earlier this year, has pushed Ferrari into greater changes than originally envisioned. The new 2005 Ferrari 430 Modena will be fitted with Ferrari's new 4.2-litre V8 engine which is already fitted to the new Maserati Coupe and Spyder. However to keep Ferrari above Maserati, the 184kg engine is expected to be tuned to produce around 465bhp, 75bhp more than in the Maserati. Styling will be overhauled, the 360 Modena has come in for criticism for its bland looks and a much more distinctive styling is expected, possibly drawing cues from the new Enzo supercar. It is believed that the 2005 Ferrari will be known as the "430 Modena", and is scheduled to make its debut in September next year, several months after its Lamborghini rival.

Updated Ferrari 430 News

Ferrari is to replace its 'entry-level' 360 Modena with this: the 430 Monza. Ferrari is said to have registered the numbers '430' as a trademark, indicating that the company's 4.2-litre V8 engine could be enlarged for this new model to 4.3 litres; an output of 450bhp is estimated. This engine will remain mid-mounted.

Its front and rear-end Pininfarina-penned styling, with vertically-stacked headlights and redesigned air intakes, is heavily influenced by that of the Enzo Ferrari: more angular, and more aggressive in its stance. Like the Enzo, the 430 could feature an adjustable rear spoiler. It is expected to be formally unveiled early next year, possibly at the Detroit Motor Show in January, with sales following in summer 2005. A convertible version and a lightweight, stripped-out Challenge Stradale model are predicted to follow in 2006.

  1. Great article reminding us of the wonderful and very high priced Ferraris we all want but can never afford. They just look better all the time. When will Ferrari get smart and make some under $100,000 models?
