2009 Volkswagen Tiguan wiill Debut Frankfurt Motor Show and Offical Impages

Volkswagen announced that its upcoming Tiguan soft-roader will debut at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show in September and released the first official photos of the compact crossover.

While the Tiguan will arrive packing an impressive list of off-road options, it enters into a small-SUV segment in which the average buyer shudders at the thought of a rutted dirt road. Thus, many customers will certainly appreciate interior space similar to Volkswagen’s own Rabbit and GTI, to which the Tiguan is closely related.

Buyers will also appreciate the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, which will be the only engine available in the U.S. at launch—Europeans will have a choice of three gas and two diesel fours—with a 2.0-liter TDI turbo-diesel to follow shortly after.
